On International Volunteer Day, which is celebrated on 5 December, an innovative app associated with the Volunteer Card is being launched, which allows all those who volunteer to register, account for the hours they dedicate to causes and also guarantees advantages for the Organisations with which they collaborate.
"Extraordinary people deserve an extraordinary card" is the motto of the communication campaign that will allow volunteers' time to be doubly valued and accounted for. As well as recording all the hours dedicated to volunteering, this new app will allow the number of volunteer hours to be converted into points that revert to non-profit organisations and can be exchanged for benefits and discounts offered by companies in the energy, food distribution, telecommunications and other sectors that join the project.
The new application is an initiative of ENTRAJUDA, in partnership with CASES-Cooperativa António Sérgio para a Economia Social and CPV-Confederação Portuguesa do Voluntariado, with technology developed by INCM-Imprensa Nacional Casa da Moeda, with support from Outsystems, .PT and AKT.
As of today, volunteers will be able to download the app from Google Play and the App Store and start recording their time through a QR Code available at the places where they will be carrying out voluntary work.
The app is linked to the volunteer portal (www.cartaodevoluntario.pt), which includes a personal area where volunteers can consult their volunteering history and obtain statements attesting to their participation in the various initiatives. The portal will also have an area dedicated to Promoting Organisations, which can register their volunteers and keep track of the hours they have worked.
