.PT participates in talk about "Regulation and Taxation in Digital Commerce"

.PT participated in the ACEPI/IDC talk on "Regulation and Taxation in Digital Commerce", which took place on June 23rd.

The President of .PT, Luisa Ribeiro Lopes, was a keynote speaker and spoke about regulation and taxation in Digital Commerce: "We increasingly have an effective presence of digital in our lives. Does it make sense to think about regulation? Does it make sense to think about a new taxation? Does it make sense to look at online in a different way? We should look for symbols that identify trust. Firstly, .PT is a generator of trust, but then we look at, for example, online shopping. It is also important to see that consumers are looking for a trustworthy site, and I would like to refer to CONFIO, an initiative of ACEPI, .PT and DECO, a trustmark that is awarded to all sites that comply with the best practices of the digital market and the internet use.”

Marta Moreira Dias, Board Member and Legal & Corporate Affairs Manager of .PT, has participated in the debate with the theme "New regulation in Digital Commerce strengthens consumer confidence and protection”, noting that: "The DSA came to clarify that registries, as .PT, are included in the concept of intermediaries and, therefore, there is no escape from the terms and obligations that the DSA brings us. We are going to have a very concrete framework and that will be reflected in the scope of our responsibility, but it is a framework that tells us that we do not have monitoring obligations, but that we have, for example, reporting obligations, and to that extent we will be, now in an assumed way with the DSA, an important link in this chain, with a set of actions that have already been thought out and that have to be carried out.”.
