Last September 20th, the final event of the 8th edition of Apps For Good took place, where the winners were announced. Carolina Vale, from Escola Secundária de Molelos in Tondela, was this year's winner of the Young Student .PT award, with the "For Disability” App. This solution aims to help people with disabilities and their caregivers through tips on guided nutrition, indications of reliable products, medical support and emergency cases.

The event took place at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and was attended by the Secretary of State for Education, António Leite, and the Secretary of State for Regional Development, Isabel Ferreira.

In addition to awarding the .PT Young Student Award, which aims to promote female talent in the technology sector, .PT has been a global partner of the Apps for Good initiative since 2016.

Apps for Good is a technological education programme that challenges students from 5th to 12th grade and teachers from all subject areas to develop applications for smartphones or tablets, showing them the potential of technology in transforming the world and the communities where they live. With a project methodology and based on the Sustainable Development Goals, students have the opportunity to experience the product development cycle and participate in a national competition.
