At PTServidor, we are taking another important step in our journey of growth and technical independence: we have completed our accreditation as an ICANN Registrar.

ICANN Registrar accreditation represents the opportunity to operate more closely with the international infrastructure responsible for generic domain names.

In practical terms, this step will allow PTServidor to strengthen control over technical processes, improve integrations, reduce external dependenciesvand prepare a more robust offering for customers, businesses, partners and resellers.

This is not simply about adding more domain extensions to our portfolio. It is about reinforcing our ability to operate with greater autonomy, security and efficiency in a critical area of digital infrastructure.

This new status builds on the work we have already been carrying out as a registrar for .pt with Associação DNS.PT, for .eu with EURid and for .gw with ARN.

Over the past few years, we have sought to consolidate a strategy based on three pillars: technical independence, proximity to the national market and direct control over the services we provide.

In a sector increasingly concentrated in large international groups, we believe there is still value in having a Portuguese, independent and technically solid alternative for domain management and digital services.

Sampling Line – Serviços e Internet, Lda., the company behind the PTServidor brand, maintains a structure with 100% national capital and independent management. This allows us to make decisions aligned with the needs of our customers, partners and the Portuguese and European markets.

The completion of the accreditation is only one part of the process. The next step, already underway, is the technical and operational implementation phase.

This stage includes preparing our internal systems, integrating with the infrastructure required to operate as an ICANN Registrar, adapting the processes for the registration and management of generic domains and validating the technical and operational procedures.

Only after this phase is completed will the services associated with generic domains be made commercially available under this new model.

We prefer to move forward in a secure, structured and responsible way, ensuring that the future operation meets the standards of stability, security, compliance and service quality that we are committed to maintain.

Registrar.pt: a new brand for this new phase 

To accompany this new stage, our operation as an ICANN Registrar will be developed under the Registrar.pt brand.

We chose this name because it is clear, direct and aligned with our goal of creating a Portuguese infrastructure dedicated to domain management, prepared to serve end customers, businesses, partners and resellers.

We want Registrar.pt to represent a credible, robust and technically prepared national alternative capable of responding to the needs of an increasingly demanding and competitive market.

Domains are an essential part of the digital presence of any company, organization or project. Having greater control over the domain registration and management chain means being able to improve processes, reduce intermediaries, increase technical autonomy and create solutions that are better aligned with the real needs of customers.

For PTServidor, this accreditation also represents a strengthening of the Portuguese presence within the international domain name system.

At a time when digital sovereignty, security, technological independence and customer proximity are becoming increasingly relevant topics, we believe this step makes a positive contribution to the maturity of the national technology sector.

With more than 20 years of presence in the national market, PTServidor will continue to invest in digital infrastructure solutions, web hosting, domain registration, virtual servers, dedicated servers and colocation services.

ICANN Registrar accreditation is another step along that path.
