.pt sets new record in 2019

.PT has reached an historical milestone of registered domains in 2019. In total, there were 121,359 new registrations under .pt, 10,799 more than in 2018, the best year ever.

In 2019, the evolution of registrations under .pt was already noticeable in January, with 13,906 new domains. Also worth mentioning are February with 11,887 new registrations, March with 11,137, May with 10,320 and November with 10,228. October was the month with the most domains registered: 18,429 in total.

 "The .pt growth in recent years reflects a growing national projection in the digital world,” says Luisa Ribeiro Lopes Gueifão, President of the .PT Board of Directors. "After 2018, when we have already reached our best year, the 2019 record gives us the confidence that we are on the right track. We will continue to seek to do more and better.”

Throughout 2019, .PT developed and supported several initiatives in the area of digital inclusion and enhancement of digital skills in Portugal, including: Sitestar.pt, together with DECO; Apps for Good, with CDI Portugal; #EUSOUDIGITAL, with FCT, INCoDe.2030 and MUDA; Portugal Digital Week, in partnership with ACEPI; and the E-Computing Association.

According to Luisa Ribeiro Lopes Gueifão, it is essential to continue the work developed in recent years. "In 2020 we will continue to focus on digital inclusion and digital skills development in Portugal, on physical and digital security through the implementation of the PTSOC (Security Operations Center) and on the .pt communication that we believe it is a symbol of trust, credibility and innovation”.

.pt already has more than 1,210,000 registered domains.
