Huawei joins .PT and INCoDe.2030 to promote talent in STEAM areas

.PT, INCoDe.2030 and Huawei signed a memorandum of understanding in which the technology company undertakes to launch a scholarship program, which aims to benefit a total of 50 Portuguese higher education students in the STEAM areas (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).

It is intended that the management of this program will be monitored by Portugal Digital, within its competences at the level of global coordination of the Portuguese Digital Transition Action Plan, and by the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG), to encourage the equal participation of men and women in the digital age. In this context, it is foreseen the delivery of the same number of scholarships to girls and boys, thus promoting gender equality in ICT.  

With the signatures of Luisa Ribeiro Lopes, President of .PT and General Coordinator of the INCoDe.2030 program, and Tony Li, CEO of Huawei Portugal, with Steven Cai, Vice President for Western Europe of Huawei, in the presence of the Portuguese Secretary of State for the Digital Transition, André de Aragão Azevedo, and the Portuguese Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality, Rosa Monteiro, the memorandum was signed at the StartUp Portugal stand at the Web Summit.
